The
Windsor-Essex Cardiac Wellness Centre is a medically managed cardiac
rehabilitation program that assists people following a cardiac event.
The program was established in November 2000 with only one staff and
one physician. The Ontario Ministry of Health and Long Term Care provides
operational funding for the program.
The
Cardiac Wellness Centre is currently located at Windsor Regional Hospital's
Western Campus. The program services 420 cardiac participants each year.
As
well, a partnership was formed with Leamington District Memorial Hospital
and a new satellite site was formed in Leamington to serve the community.
Exercise and educational sessions are conducted at the Leamington Kinsmen
Complex and 80 cardiac participants are seen each year.
